Our Programs

At 500 Moms, we know that childhood hunger doesn’t just impact meals — it impacts a child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive. That’s why our programs are designed to meet children where they are, from home to school to the community, ensuring they always have access to the nourishment they need.

Mom’s Meals

Mom’s Meals are prepackaged, shelf-stable meal kits that include canned goods, grains and staples, protein and spreads, dried goods and ready to eat snacks with a recipe card and cooking instructions to make a nutritious and convenient meal. These dinner boxes are a reliable and healthy food source for our families with limited budgets and

Why these meals are important

  • Accessibility:
They can be stored at room temperature, making them crucial for people who may lack easy access to refrigeration or fresh food.
  • Convenience:
Shelf-stable meals reduce the need for extensive food preparation, making them ideal for those with limited cooking facilities.
  • Encourages Healthier Eating:
Mom’s Meals are nutritionally balanced and incorporate ingredients like whole grains, lean proteins, and a variety of vegetables.
  • Variety and Dignity:
Rather than receiving a pre-determined random assortment of items, families receive all the necessary components for a specific recipe.

school pantry program

Schools should be a place of learning, not a place of worry about the next meal. Our School Pantry Program brings groceries and healthy snacks directly to schools, creating a safety net for students and their families.

  • On-campus food pantries provide consistent, reliable support

  • Kids have access to meals during and after school

  • Families can take home food, reducing the stress of empty cupboards

Breakfast After the Bell

Breakfast After the Bell is a school-based program that provides breakfast to students after the official start of the school day, rather than before. This approach removes barriers to traditional breakfast programs such as transportation issues or morning routines that prevent many students from eating a traditional breakfast.

Snack Time Kits

Snack time kits are provided to each classroom and stocked with healthy teacher and kid approved snacks. These kits ensure that students who are unable to bring snacks from home never go without. Children can focus on learning knowing a nutritious snack is always available.
